Aluminum Die Casting Pantograph Adapter, the part is a small customized part, which is used on the wiper system. The manufacturing technology for this part is high pressure die casting. We are an OEM die casting factory which specializes in high pressure die casting industry for more than 16 years, we have very rich experience in the precision casting work, usually we will provide a lot of recommendations based on the initial print and CAD data during phase of quotation, if we thought the part will have problem for die casting work, we will produce special powerpoint accordingly, then send to customer to discuss. We also will put ourselves in the shoes of the customer to save cost, such as hollow the part by only adding strengthen ribs, not only for saving the material cost for the customer, but also to make the part more suitable for die casting process.
The key characteristic for the quality control for this part is the steel insert, the material for this insert is 300 series stainless steel, knurl the outer surface, the insert will be overmolded while die casting. Overmold is a process of setting the insert on the mold prior to the injection, then after die casting, the insert part will be included in the aluminum part. There is a dimension requirement, which says the steel part should be 0.25 mm higher than the surface of aluminum housing. During our production, we ever found that, after die casting, the steel insert is completely lower than the aluminum housing, which is unacceptable, through investigation, it is because while setting up the insert on the mold, the insert is not completely located, then the engineer require the operator to tap the insert slightly after setting up it on the mold to make sure it is wholly assembled.
The part has surface finish requirement of powder coating, prior to this finish, the part will be polished, then vibratory deburred. As Powder coating has a process of curing the powder to solidification in over under around 200 degree temperature. The density of the part is important, or if the part have problem of plenty of porosity inside, because of thermal expansion, the air will be heated to get out from the part, leading to bubbles on the powder coating surface, which is not allowed, not only for cosmetic appearance requirement, but also the functional reason, as the bubble will be easily broken, then the aluminum will expose to the air, the objective for corrosion protection is meaningless.
The material of the part is ADC-12, a Japanese aluminum type. The material should conform to standard of JIS H 5302-2000, a very common material in high pressure die casting. This material has good property of fluidity, and good property of processability.
